"YOU CAN'T GO BACK."

Detective Flowers arrested the Welthie housekeeper for theft. All she said was "you can't go back" to the detective, over and over. She did not make any attempts to deny the accusation. It was almost like she'd turned herself in...

"I don't believe you," you tell Housie. "This is a cover-up, isn't it?"

She stares at you blankly. "Why would it be? I've only said the truth."

"Where is it?" you blurt out. "Where's Lady Welthie's jewelery?"

"Where is used to be. In her safe."

"I saw that safe! It was empty!"

"Check it again. You've gone too far to go back, you know."

You shake your head. There's something wrong. You run to check.

You open the empty safe...to find a sparkling mass of gold laden with sapphires and emeralds.

"I said so, didn't I?"

"It was you..."

"I can't say it was. But I'll go. What does it matter to me?"

"YOU'RE GETTING ARRESTED!"

Housie doesn't run. She doesn't even move.

"You've doomed yourself, Detective Flowers. You can't go back."
